Program Structure

BCRI offers boys and girls teams from 3rd-12th grade, providing competitive and developmental opportunities for players of all levels. We operate two major seasons each year: Spring and Fall. Spring tryouts are typically held in January & February, with the season running from April through the end of June.

Our high school teams continue into July, traveling to top exposure tournaments across the country depending on team level and age group. Fall tryouts take place in late July or early August, kicking off another competitive season focused on growth and development. Check out our structure below to learn more about our High School, Middle School, and Elementary School teams!

High School Teams

BCRI’s high school teams represent the core of our program — built for competition, exposure, and player development at the highest level. Our top boys and girls teams now proudly compete on the Made Hoops MHC Circuit, one of the nation’s premier platforms for grassroots basketball. This marks our first season on the MHC stage after three successful years on the Hoop Group HGSL Circuit, where BCRI teams consistently proved they could compete with and defeat some of the best programs across the Northeast.

Alongside our circuit teams, BCRI also fields elite second teams at each high school level, designed to travel, compete, and showcase additional college recruitable talent.

Our elite teams are widely considered to be a better exposure opportunity than any other program in the state can offer at their top level.

In addition, BCRI offers several development teams that provide Rhode Island athletes the chance to train, grow, and experience high level basketball in a competitive yet supportive environment. Whether on the top circuit or a developmental roster, every player in BCRI is part of a culture that values improvement, exposure, and representing Rhode Island basketball with pride.

Middle School Teams

BCRI’s Middle School Teams serve as the bridge between development and exposure — where players begin turning potential into performance. Led by some of the most experienced coaches in our program, this stage emphasizes skill development, basketball IQ, and understanding of team concepts on both ends of the floor.

Our top middle school teams have the opportunity to compete at Made Hoops Events, giving them valuable experience on the premier middle school basketball platform in the nation.

Our focus is to prepare players for the demands of high school basketball by instilling accountability, communication, and competitiveness in everything we do. Practices are structured to challenge athletes to expand their games while learning how to lead, listen, and play for one another. By the time our players reach high school, they arrive confident, coachable, and ready to make an immediate impact.

Elementary School Teams

At the elementary level, BCRI’s philosophy is simple — work hard, have fun, and get better. This program serves as the entry point for many young athletes discovering the game of basketball. Our coaches prioritize fundamentals, movement, and skillbuilding while ensuring that every player enjoys the process and builds a genuine love for the game.

We introduce basic team concepts and teach players how to play together, communicate, and compete with sportsmanship. The goal is to lay a strong foundation — not only in basketball.
