Personal Conduct Policy

Parents and players are expected to uphold BCRI’s Personal Conduct Policy at all times. Inappropriate behavior, including verbal abuse, harassment, or disrespect toward coaches, players, officials, or spectators, will not be tolerated.

BCRI is committed to the physical, intellectual, and emotional development of every participant. In support of this mission, the program maintains a zero-tolerance policy for any form of harassment, demeaning behavior, or insensitivity toward the personal or social boundaries of others.

All members of the BCRI community are expected to represent the program with respect, integrity, and professionalism—on and off the court.

Coaching Policy

BCRI is proud of the strength, experience, and continuity of its coaching staff at every level of the program. Our coaches bring championship pedigree, with proven success at both the RIIL and NEPSAC levels, and that same high standard extends seamlessly from our elite teams down to our youth and middle school programs. Simply put, BCRI’s level of coaching is unmatched in Rhode Island.

Our staff includes former college players and coaches with collegiate-level experience, ensuring that our athletes are taught the game with advanced knowledge, structure, and accountability. Unlike many programs in the region, BCRI’s elite teams (grades 8–11) are coached exclusively by non-parent coaches, creating a professional, objective, and development-focused environment.

Equally important, these same high-level coaches are actively involved in teaching our younger athletes through skills nights, emphasizing fundamentals, basketball IQ, and long-term development. At the youth level, our coaches excel at instilling the values that define BCRI basketball, playing the right way, competing with intensity, and putting team success above individual recognition.

Playing Time Policy

BCRI strives to balance player development, fairness, and team success. Playing time is earned through skill, effort, attitude, practice attendance, and commitment to the team. Coaches may adjust minutes based on opponent, game situation, or team needs.

Coaches will communicate expectations clearly with players regarding roles and playing time. We encourage players to take ownership by discussing questions or concerns directly and respectfully with their coach. Parents who wish to discuss playing time should email bcriaau@gmail.com to connect with a program director.

BCRI enforces a strict 24-hour rule, which prohibits parents from approaching coaches immediately after games to discuss complaints or playing time concerns. This policy ensures professionalism, respect, and productive communication.

All playing time decisions are made solely at the discretion of the coaching staff, and refunds will not be issued due to playing time concerns.

Outside Program Participation Policy

BCRI players are not permitted to play with other programs during the BCRI season. Participating with another team or program during the same season divides focus, disrupts team chemistry, and hinders individual and collective development.

Our coaches and athletes dedicate significant time and effort toward growth and success. To maintain fairness, consistency, and team cohesion, full commitment to BCRI is required for the duration of the season.

Refund Policy

BCRI will not offer refunds after a player has accepted his/her position on the team. Our program may offer a credit depending on the specificity of the situation, taking into account why the participant can no longer participate.

  • All registration fees are non-refundable once a roster spot is accepted, as rosters, uniforms, and facility costs are finalized immediately.
  • Refunds will not be issued for playing time concerns, personal conflicts, or withdrawal from the program.
  • Season-ending injuries are eligible for a prorated refund, less a $300 non-refundable deposit, based on the portion of the season completed.

All refund requests must be submitted in writing to BCRI administration. BCRI reserves the right to review each case individually and make final determinations regarding eligibility.
